Freelee’s own journey started nine years ago.

The 35-year-old was overweight, and depressed, and suffered from irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, poor digestion, and acne.

She started to research nutrition and came across the raw food diet.

After trial and error, which included a stint of eating only bananas for a month, her high-carb fruit diet saw her shed 20 kilograms, and her health problems disappeared with the weight.

‘A typical day would be about 10 to 15 bananas for breakfast in a smoothie,’ she said.

‘For lunch, I have more fruit, whatever is in season, really.

‘If it’s stone fruit, I might ease a massive plate of stone fruit, like 30 or 40 peaches.’

Freelee disputed criticism that her diet was ‘boring’ or not ‘satisfying.’
